Obituary of The Right Reverend George C Lemmon B.A., B.D.

The death of The Right Reverend G.C Lemmon occurred at Neill Hall on Sunday, May 22nd, 2022. Born in Saint John NB, he was the son of the late George B. and Mary (Gabriel) Lemmon and the loving husband of Lois (Foster) Lemmon. In 1957 George Lemmon and Lois Foster of Saint John were married, and they have a family of three children: Paul, (Darlene) of Crabbe Mountain, NB, Rob, (Carolin) of Fredericton, NB and Marilu Hynes (Donnie),of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Christian, Ashley, Ethan, Alex, Matthew, Madeline and Gabrielle; one great-granddaughter, Stevie Lou. The Right Reverend George C. Lemmon, after several years working in his family's printing business, was called to the ministry and began his studies at the University of New Brunswick and Wycliffe College, Toronto. Ordained deacon in 1962, he began his ministry in the parish of Canterbury. Subsequent appointments were the parishes of Wicklow, Wilmot and Peel (Florenceville), Renforth, Sackville and Fredericton. A much-loved parish priest, he was active in the affairs of the diocese. The seventh bishop-elect from 1989 until 2000, George, with Lois at his side, continued their ministry until the very end. A strong philanthropist, his many humanitarian efforts could be seen in such works as his establishment of the Crake Foundation in 1976. The words George lived and worked by were "Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant" There will be no visitation at this time. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 26th, 2022 at 2:00 at Christ Church Cathedral with Bishop David Edwards as Celebrant and The Very Reverend Geoffrey Hall as Co-Celebrant.
