Obituary of Wayne Daniel Charters

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Wayne Daniel Charters, of New Maryland, on May 22, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Wayne passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, and son-in-law. Born on October 20, 1932, in Nasonworth, NB, he was the son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Daniel) Charters, and the beloved husband of Marie (O’Leary) Charters for 67 years Wayne and his father, Charlie, together started CT Charters & Son, a local construction company and he continued to manage the company, Charters Construction Ltd, until his retirement. The company is carried on by his daughter and his trusted friend and associate, Kerry Hayes, who has been like a son to Wayne for 45 years. Wayne had many passions, one of which was aviation. He held a private pilot’s licence and flew planes for 54 years. Another passion of his was traveling, especially with Marie and his family. They travelled extensively and all around the world, enjoying each trip and creating lasting memories. He loved being outdoors, especially at his cabin on the lake, which was like his second home. Those who knew Wayne will remember his smile and his laugh. He had a kind word for everyone he knew and met and saw the best in everything and everyone. Wayne is survived by his wife Marie; daughter Tanya Charters (Doug Anderson); grandchildren Paul Anderson, Kelsey Anderson, Corey Anderson (Julianne Cornwell) and their children Macy Cornwell and Hughston Anderson; a sister Joan Corey, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother-in-law Earl Corey. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all the staff on 4NE at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Wayne and themselves. A visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 4 – 8 pm. A memorial service will take place at J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Brad Little officiating. A private family interment will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery, Beaver Dam. For those who wish, donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
