Obituary of Valeriana Del Frate
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Valeriana (Beltrame) Del Frate on June 18, 2022, at Hospice House in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Born in Mortegliano (Chiasiellis), Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Udine), Italy, on November 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Pietro and Elba (Pravisan) Beltrame and widow of Ettore Del Frate (1992), her husband of 38 years.
She is survived by her sons Mauro (Ginette) and Michael (Janet); her grandchildren Alicia, Caroline (Leigh Buckley), Nicholas (Sherri Dickison), and Anthony; great-grandchildren Cianna and Mya; siblings Bruna Beltrame, Pierino (Rosalba) Beltrame, and Mariangela Beltrame; and many beloved nieces and nephews in Italy.
Valeriana never missed an opportunity to fondly recount her adventures growing up. She worked diligently in the family-owned business and loved playing practical jokes on her friends and neighbours. She made friends easily and delighted in ensuring her loved ones ate well and plenty. A pragmatic, industrious woman, she taught us that hard work is its own reward and that laughter is often the best medicine. She left us with a lifetime of sweet memories and instilled in us the importance of family and friendship, the value of an independent spirit, and that life is what you make of it.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Hospice House Fredericton for their professionalism and compassion.
At Valeriana’s request, a private interment will take place in the Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Lincoln, New Brunswick, on June 24, 2022. For those who wish, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice House Fredericton.
