Liz made a major contribution to involving patients in the Cochrane Collaboration, the world's pre-eminent evidence organisation, to ensure Cochrane's work was relevant and accessible by patients and citizens globally. She served on its global Board and on the Executive of the Cochrane Consumer Network. I chaired the Board during some of Liz's term - was great to have more Canadians (especially from the Maritimes) on the Board. Liz always made great contributions to discussions. Her personality was irrepressible and she always had a twinkle in her eye as she gently made important points. She had a global impact! Ken often accompanied him when she travelled to Board meetings, so I got to know him a little. After my term on the Board, we became Facebook friends where I got to know more about her family and life. She will be missed by many locally, in Canada and globally. My deepest sympathies to the family.

I am so very sorry for your deep loss. I am one of the nurses from 4 West and always enjoyed the time when Elizabeth was with us. She was so much fun to have as a patient...always laughing and telling a story, but as well always interested in us as nurses and mothers. She probably knew as much about us as we did about her! I feel grateful to have been part of her care team over the last few years. Please know that we have missed her on 4 West and will be thinking of all of you.

Mark G. Wilson posted a condolence
On behalf of the Cochrane community, I am writing to express the sadness Liz's many former colleagues and friends around the world feel at the news of her death; and to send our deepest condolences to her family. Liz was a highly-valued Cochrane collaborator for many years, from 1999 until 2013, including serving for six years as a member of Cochrane's Steering Group (equivalent to its Governing Board). She made a tremendously valuable contribution drawing on her deep insight of the needs of patients and consumers of healthcare evidence around the world. She did this with her trademark graciousness, generosity of spirit, self deprecation and fun! Her dedication to the voluntary leadership roles she undertook as a patient advocate, spanning over two decades, was extraordinary. I know I speak for many Cochrane colleagues in saying she will be greatly missed, even as we thank and celebrate her great contribution to our work. With our warmest appreciation and best wishes, Mark Wilson, CEO Cochrane
