Obituary of Mavis Arline Burke

It is with sadness that we inform you of our mother’s death on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at the Chalmers Regional Hospital. Mavis Arline (Anderson) Burke was born in April, 1923, and had a long life well lived through strength, tenacity, hard work, and a pretty fierce independence. Our mother’s death marks the end of an era, having been predeceased by sisters Helen, Olga, Alma, and Maxine; and brothers Dellis, Dawson, Theodore, Donald, Horace, and Hollis; as well as their spouses. Into her nineties, Mom could name all her numerous nieces and nephews as well as their spouses and children. Mom was blessed with good health and a cheerful disposition. We are most grateful to have had her in our lives, mentally intact and healthy, for so many years - a gift denied to many. In keeping with our mother’s wishes, there’ll be no funeral service nor public interment. If you wish to make a charitable donation in her memory, we ask that you consider your local animal shelter or animal protection agency. With no regrets and much love… Mary Ellen and Kathryn
