Obituary of Robert Allan Harvey
Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to this amazing man whom we loved so much.
Robert Allan Harvey (Bob), of Fredericton, NB, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers hospital. He was 75 years old.
Bob was born on December 28, 1946 in Fredericton, NB to the late James Harvey and Clara (Sparkes) Harvey. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Neil Harvey, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Irsa Volpara; son, Michael Harvey; daughter, Heather Harvey; his beautiful grandchildren, Brenden, Lauren, Leandro David and Leinier; stepsons, Reciel Reyes and Reiniel Reyes; many cousins, friends and his best friend, his dog, Jake.
Bob graduated high school from Fredericton High School. He received his Teaching Certificate from Teachers College. Then he attended St. Thomas University where he received his Bachelor of Teaching and his Bachelor of Arts. He continued his education at UNB where he received his Post Graduate Diploma in Education and his Masters of Education Degree. Later on, he took a sabbatical leave to attend University of Western Sydney in Australia to study Environmental Science.
Bob was a teacher and an administrator at Stanley Consolidated School for 35 years. He loved the students and community very much. He also enjoyed coaching many high school sports teams. He fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a Physical Education teacher and having a hobby farm. Bob was active in sports and especially enjoyed curling with his fellow teacher friends.
After his retirement, Bob was blessed with grandchildren and was a huge part of their lives. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and special functions with Anne (Diskgo) and Glen. He especially enjoyed vacationing in Cuba where he met the love of his life, Irsa. He grew very fond of Cuba and made many friends and memories there. He always looked forward to his weekly lunch outings with his fellow retired teacher friends.
Bob had a heart of gold and touched the lives of so many. He will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity. He loved his family beyond words and always put them and others first. He was the best dad to Michael and Heather. Bob told the best stories and was full of knowledge, wit and humour. He will be dearly missed by so many.
There will be no funeral. A gathering will take place on January 3, 2023 at McAdams Funeral Home, 160 York Street, from 6-8 PM.
