Obituary of Elizabeth Kathleen Hoyt

The family of Elizabeth Kathleen “Casey” (Jones) Hoyt, 86, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, sadly announces she passed away on January 15, 2023.

Elizabeth was born and raised a single child in Moncton, NB to the late Mary (MacLean) and George Jones. She received her BSc from Acadia University in 1956 and her BEd from UNB in the early 70s. Elizabeth was a strong student and involved in a plethora of school activities from captaining the cheerleading squad to editing the school newspaper. She became a proud and respected teacher at Albert and George Street Junior High Schools then Fredericton High School until her retirement in 2000.

Elizabeth met H.W. (Joe) Hoyt from Charlottetown at Acadia and they married on May 17 th , 1958. They lived briefly in Woodstock, ON and Saint John, NB then settled in Fredericton in 1966.

Elizabeth was devoted to her family and a generous friend. Her artistic talents were well known and could be noticed in everything from her sense of fashion, painting projects, biological drawings and home decorating. She loved her summers by the Shediac seashore and all of the incredible times with family and friends at the beach. Wherever she was, she enjoyed bringing her favourite people together for a stylish and fun social gathering.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Joe, son Brad (wife Brit, children Cal and Chloe Hoyt), daughter Margo (husband Glen, children Colin and Sydney Orsak) and several cousins across Canada and New England.

The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff at York Care Centre for their thoughtful care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2022, from 1-3pm at McAdam’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held following the visitation in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel at 3pm.
