While visiting Fredericton over 50 years ago, I met Phil. I already knew Marg, but not Phil. Although he didn't know me at all, he accepted me (pretty much a penniless nomad at the time) with the greatest kindness and generosity while I was there. I've never forgotten how well he treated me. My thoughts are with Marg and the family at this sad and difficult time.

Dear Marg and Family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Phil was a wonderful (and helpful) neighbour, ever cheerful, and especially in recent years an inspiration as he kept on running. I miss KCR and you, and regret that I couldn't attend today's reception, but please know that you and yours are in my thoughts.

My condolences to the family. I first met Phil and his wife, Marguerite, when we taught skiing together at Silverwood Winter Park and went on a few ski trips together. Later in life, I ran on his team at the Cabot Trail Relay. I can not think of another person I know who is so full of life and positivity. He will be missed!

I am sick and can not attend the services tomorrow, unfortunately. Phil was such a kind man to me. When I first moved to Fredericton to go to UNB back in 1984 he helped me find an apartment and assisted me in locating some used furniture and a bed. Always remember the kindness he displayed to others. My condolences to Phil’s family, he was a great man.

Sorry to hear about the sad news of Phil passing; My dad and i have known Phil and his father (may you both RIP) for many years. The last time i seen Phil was more than 11 years ago when he ran the same full marathon in Fredericton that i did. He was quite the inspiration as he was fighting cancer I believe at the time and beat it. My you rest in peace now that your earthly journey has ended and you new life with God has started.

I had the pleasure of welcoming Phil in my home at his last Demi-marathon de L'Acadie in July 2021. Covid restrictions has been lifted, allowing us to race in person. Todd Power accompanied Phil at our race in Tracadie; we still had to wear mask as the phot shows. I did not want Phil to drive back to Fredericton without having a snooze first to recuperate from the half marathon which he finished in 2:00:23. Phil and I connected in so many ways; we graduated from the same high school and shared similar values. As Past President of RunNB, he gave me great advice on how to move the organisation forward. It was so special to write and share his inspiring story on the RunNB website.
My condolences to his great family of which that Phil was so proud. The running community is sad, indeed.

Sorry to all the family. Somehow a world without a Phil in it seems a little smaller today. I knew him from my first Cabot in '04.
I was on the 70 team, when we surprised him with three (or four?) generations of Bookers. He didn't know
until the finish they were there. And of course the time he introduced a new Brit to Canada (not me)
to Tim Horton's. He walked in to the place and announced to the bemused regulars of the Tim's in Cheticamp that he was introducing a brand new Canadian to the delights of the classic Canadian brew.
He got a round of applause.

Phil gave me my start in Real Estate and those who have used "Positivity" and "Enthusiasm" to describe him are right on.
He knew the business so well, was a great teacher and motivator. I have 35 plus years in now and think about things he taught us regularly. I also got to know several of his wonderful kids when I was a Camp Director at Camp Woolastook up in Kincardine They were classy young people and I knew they had good parents---it showed. I wish to send my sincere condolences to all of his family .He will be missed and remembered. When I read the Obituary aloud to my husband Steve just now he said, "Add my name to that condolence; any man that has that kind of a running record deserves my respects too" That comment would have made Phil laugh.

Although I have several fond memories of Phil, my favourite was the time we ran a half marathon together in Fredericton and he kept us occupied with stories the whole time but the best one was the story of his hunting trip where he read a book, napped and snacked all the while his fellow hunters were out hunting. Then he decided to go out for a bit and bagged a deer in just a few minutes and returned to the camp. Love that tale, we will miss you Phil!
