Rick's passing is a devastating loss to his family as well as to Athletics Canada.Whenever he and Marg were officiating, you knew some parts would be done very well. He was one of the best starters in the country, and Marg is one of the best umpires in the country. They were an exceptional partnership in every sense of the word. The sport will miss him greatly. I, too, will miss him.
Sincere condolences, Brian Langley

Mrs. Stocker, Brent and Brian,
I was so sorry to learn of Mr. Stocker's passing.
I have wonderful memories of road trips around the Maritimes and countless hours in the gym - being challenged to work our hardest and to be the best version of ourselves possible.
While he was serious about our competitiveness, it wasn't until years later that I realized the life lessons he was instilling in us as young men. Be dependable, support your teammates, work our hardest, touch every line :), set a goal and then achieve it.
I can't look back on my time at FHS and with basketball without his face being among the first to jump into my mind.
Thank you Mr. Stocker for your selflessness (giving up so much personal time), belief that young men can be better than they realize, and for the kicks in the butt when we were falling short.
All my thanks and thoughts to the Stocker Family,
Mark

So sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I've known Rick & Marg for 55 years from when I began in basketball and track. He was an integral part of the sports community and always well respected and appreciated. Anytime I was home in Fredericton and ran into them, they always took the time to chat and get caught up, always taking an interest in others.
I extend my most sincere condolences to Marg and the family. Rick will be missed not only in the sports community, but in the community in general. As others have mentioned, he was a gentleman and a wonderful person to be able call a friend.

To Marg, Brian and Brent,
I had the privilege of fishing with Rick, Roly and Kevin for over 30 years on the Mirimachi River. He was without question, one of the finest gentlemen I have ever met. There are some people you meet and know immediately you have made a new friend. Rick was this kind of person. We shared a lot of stories and laughs over the years. He was a joy to be around, always positive and upbeat. His smile and laugh are etched in my brain. His dignity and the way he treated other people are equally etched in my memory. He left an incredible legacy with all that he did in his life. He was a bright, shining beacon that made everyone around him better. I have a feeling that right after he was issued his wings, he was also given a fly rod and throwing a line with Buddy, David and Dick, somewhere on a river in Heaven. My sincerest condolences to you all. It's never easy to lose someone you love. You are all in my prayers. God bless you all.

Dear Marg and Family;
We offer our sincere condolences.
I had the privilege of playing basketball for Rick at Marysville in the late 60's and early 70's. He not only made me a better athlete but also a better person because of the way Rick carried himself as a person and the way he was (we also had you Margie who always gave us words of encouragement).
During our Covid shutdown I would often run into Rick out walking and he always stopped to talk.
He will be missed.

Please accept my sincerest condolences to Rick’s family and loved ones during this time. Rick coached me on the FHS JV basketball team between 2002-2004 and he was one of the best! To play for Rick meant that you would have not only a coach but a longtime mentor; his patience, kindness, and unconditional support, both on and off the court, was immeasurable. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this time! His incredible spirit will live on through the many lives that’s he’s touched!

Marg our deepest condolences to you Brent and Brian!
Rick was a great friend and colleague! I first met Rick as a track and field athlete when I was in high school.
Later I had the pleasure of working with him at FHS for over 20 years! He was such a great teacher and coach but an even better person! I never heard anyone ever say a bad word about Rick. He was always so positive and accommodating. Rick would always be there to help, support or just listen. I feel lucky to have been able to spend so many years around him and you his family! Marg you have been a wonderful friend to Carla and I and we both love you dearly. Brent I had the pleasure of coaching you as a Black Kat and on a BNB juvenile team as well as having you officiate many of my team’s games over the years. Brian we have great memories of you when you were very young and then watching you find your own path with your own interests. Rick will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him! but will always live in our hearts and minds!
Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during these difficult times. May you find comfort in knowing how much Rick was loved! God Bless each of you!

Dear Margie, Brent, Brian and Family,
I watched Rick teach in the gymnasium, officiate in the Track and Field competitions, and coach on the basketball court, and I always knew he was one of the best! Although he may no longer be with us, his impact on the world will be felt for years.
He will live on in the confidence and fairness he instilled in his athletes and his memory will always live on in your heart and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Dear Rick,
I am sure you are already putting on a track meet in Heaven, and probably planning a cross country meet for next week. The word around Heaven is that the level of officiating has risen with your arrival, and the officials are all lined up to work with you. You led the way here, and I am sure have been welcomed there. Put in a good word for our NB officials. We will miss you. Brian

Marg (Mrs. Stocker), Brent, Brian and family...
I'm very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Rick was a great coach and wonderful teacher at FHS. He always had a smile, even when he was giving you a helpful 'compliment' on the basketball court. I will forever remember the year that Rick and Dwight coached a rag-tag bunch of us to an underdog victory in the Eastern Canadian tournament in the mid-80's. They challenged us, and they believed in us. Other teams had more talent, but none had more heart. Heart won! Your Dad and Dwight were so happy when we got the victory. But what I remember most is that their "win" was in supporting us to do our best. Not the outcome...
I truly loved running into your Dad. He always had time for you. Thanks Rick. RIP
Andrew Campbell
