John Morgan

Obituary of John Douglas Irvine Morgan

John Douglas Irvine Morgan died peacefully February 22, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB; surrounded by family, holding his daughter’s hand and listening to James Taylor.

John is survived by his daughter Francie (Philip-Edouard Shay); grandson Louis; brothers Bob (Joanne), David (Mary Ann), Stephen (Carol), Tim (Gina), and Jeff (Lu), as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Dr. Lenoard and Avis Morgan and sister Lynn.

John grew up in Saint John, NB, in a creative, generous, and comedic family of five younger brothers and a beloved older sister. He graduated from Saint John High School before leaving home to explore the world and experiencing many of its wonders. Ever curious, John could not be contained by one descriptor either professionally or personally.  He was a master cabinet maker, a musician, sign designer and carver, singer, home and building renovator, actor, philosopher and friend. His greatest accomplishment was the loving relationship he forged with his daughter and her family as they cared for him these past several months.

The family appreciated the level of care provided by the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Special thanks to Doctors Murdock, McKenzie and Smith.

There will be no visitation at John’s request. A funeral and reception will be held in August, the date and location to be determined.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Twelve Neighbours, a project John was very excited to see happening in our community. https://www.12neighbours.com/donate.
