Obituary of Flavia Otuteye
It is with profound sadness that the family of Flavia Otuteye announces her passing that occurred on July 30, 2024. Flavia is survived by her children and grandchildren, who she cherished deeply. She was predeceased by her son, as well as by the love of her life, her husband, Dr. Eben Otuteye. Flavia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Flavia was born in Mbarara, Uganda and moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1983 where she worked in various roles within the provincial government. Flavia had a fulfilling career at NB Power, where she worked for over 20 years, retiring as the Supervisor of Records Management. She was known for her dedication to her work and her colleagues, and she left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Flavia was deeply passionate about helping others, especially those in need. She was an advocate and champion for newcomers in her community, providing support and guidance to those starting anew. As a devout Christian, Flavia was a founding and long-standing member of the Fredericton Word of Faith Family Church, where she served as the Nursery Director, sharing her love for children and her faith with the community. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, which included traveling and having large gatherings in her home.
Flavia will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on through the many lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life service for friends and family will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Smythe Street Church, Pastor Gary Bitely will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Fredericton Greener Village, an organization close to her heart.
