Obituary of David Brian Touchie
It is with profound sadness that the family of David Brian Touchie announces his passing on September 14, 2024 at Hospice House in Fredericton.
David is survived by his wife and best friend, Barb Touchie and his beloved son, Andrew Cline (Emma Stewart). He leaves behind three precious grandsons, Owen, Ethan, and Ezra Cline, who filled many of Grampy’s days with joy.
David also leaves behind a dear sister, Lynn Rowe (late Chris); brother, Steven (Sharon); brothers-in-law, Joe Stairs (Linda), Grapeview, Washington and Philip Stairs (Reiko Hibbett), Van Nuys, California as well as several nieces and nephews who he loved and enjoyed watching grow up over the years.
David was predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) Touchie and Doris (Dode) Touchie; brother-in-law, Chris Rowe; Mother- and Father-in-law, Thelma and Walter Stairs, and sister-in-law, Judie Hall.
David was born on May 14, 1953 and was raised in Devon, New Brunswick. He attended school in the Fredericton area, graduating from Fredericton High School in 1971. Upon completion of high school, he started his career at CIBC. It was here that he discovered a love of accounting which led to his attending Technical School in Moncton to obtain accounting certification. He later attended UNB. With his studies behind him, David joined the Government of New Brunswick, first in the payroll division of the Department of Education and later with the Department of Commerce and Technology where he remained a valued employee until his retirement in 2014.
David will be fondly remembered by the many NB companies who were fortunate enough to work with him and benefit from his advice and guidance. David loved his job, and his clients and colleagues alike held him in high regard.
Barb and Dave were the ultimate home building team! Barb was never faced with choosing between handsome and handy as Dave embodied the best of both. David loved cooking, he was an avid reader, he enjoyed a visit to a good Casino, he loved travelling, enjoying many cruise vacations together with Barb, and he was an active attendee of Brunswick Street Baptist Church where his cooking skills were often employed. David will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind and gentle man who was loved by all.
The family would like to express thanks to the many doctors and nurses who were with David during his final days. Your care and compassion during this difficult time was deeply appreciated.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of McAdams Funeral Home in Fredericton.
