Obituary of Walter Edward Currie

The death of Walter Currie of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Veterans Health Unit on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in his 102nd year. Born in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late William and Bessie (Dickenson) Currie and husband of the late Edith Louise Currie. Walter was a proud WWII veteran and enjoyed a long career as a Civil Servant at CFB Gagetown. He was a member of the Canadian Foresters, Grace Memorial Baptist Church and a life member of the Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his children, Albert Currie of Ottawa, ON, Sharon MacDonald (Michael) of Fredericton, NB and William Currie (Manida) of Yoho Lake, NB; grandchildren, David, Camelle, Shawna, Darcie, Greg and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Evan, Celenia, Colby, Mable Rose and Blain as well as several extended family members. Predeceased by his parents; loving wife, Edith; sisters, Beatrice, Christina, Della and Betty and brothers, Kenneth and Harold. A visitation and memorial service will be held later in the spring and will be announced at that time. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Walter’s honor may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Grace Memorial Baptist Church.
